Less Information, More Security?

Microsoft has recently been criticized by security researchers for installing “silent patches”–software security updates that were not completely documented.


Microsoft’s response?
They claimed that by revealing less information, they were actually making things more secure since providing technical details regarding the changes would only help attackers in exploiting their products. Does it follow that less information disclosed means more security?
